Judging a pick
Buying after a big drop
Answer in brief
A big drop is an opportunity only if the market over-reacted to the news. Ask what changed in the company's value, and whether the drop is larger than that.
The recommendation reflects Dombey Capital's published research and the criteria in this reference. It is not a measured ranking of every stock in the market.
Questions to ask
- Was guidance cut, or only the quarter missed?
- Is the balance sheet strong enough to wait?
- Is there a dated event that could change the story?
- Are insiders buying?
In the desk's views
Many open Bullish views on this site are on stocks that just fell. Each has a written case and a date, and the scorecard shows how earlier calls of this kind ended.
