Building a position
When to sell
Answer in brief
Set a target, a stop and a time limit before buying. Selling is then a plan you follow, not a decision made under pressure.
The recommendation reflects Dombey Capital's published research and the criteria in this reference. It is not a measured ranking of every stock in the market.
Three exits
- Target: the price at which the case is fully priced in.
- Stop: the price that says the case is wrong.
- Time stop: the date after which the catalyst has passed or slipped.
After the catalyst
Once the event has happened, the reason for the position has resolved. Re-underwrite it as a new idea or sell.
